On to Tanzania

The safari was wonderful. We saw many many animals and were able to observe them closely. We felt very safe, although the trouble and violence in Kenya certainly continues. I just bought a Kenyan newspaper and one of the towns where we were has had 47 new deaths for a total of 53. I am certainly glad that we were in Nakuru the week before. That is the park that has thousands of pink flamingos and pelicans.

It's Sunday morning in Arusha, Tanzania and I have been searching for an Internet cafe that is open and that has power. Finally I found one - with help from the many young men that try to sell things to tourists. The tourist industry is alive and well in Tanzania. Not so in Kenya. We were among the few tourists in the national parks there. Where there should have been hundreds of vans, there were only a half a dozen - made for great animal viewing. I intend to write more about the safari, the animals and the parks, but since I don't have much time, I will have to do that later. In about an hour I'll be catching a ride to the airport to go to the spice island, Zanzibar, off the coast of Tanzania.

Anne and Sarah returned to MN two days ago. All for now. I welcome your email at my email address.
